Dario Floreano is an associate professor in the School of Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute
of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, where he is director of the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems. His research
goals consist in extracting the principles of biological evolution and organization to develop artificial intelligence and robots
that display novel or better functionalities. He wrote and edited several books in robotics and AI. He is on the editorial board of 10 international journals, senior member
of several professional societies, and cofounder of the International Society for Artificial Life.
Claudio Mattiussi is an independent researcher. His interests include evolutionary computation, evolutionary electronics, artificial immune systems, cellular systems, developmental systems, machine learning, probabilistic and bio-inspired intelligence and
engineering, and the consistent numerical formulation of physical field problems.
